If you feel comfortable handling your case, but would like some assistance along the way, limited scope representation or "unbundling" services, may be an option for you.
In the typical "unbundling situation," you decide the specific tasks the attorney should perform. For instance, you may want an attorney to perform discrete tasks such as conducting legal research, drafting pleadings or motions, reviewing documents or correspondence, or advising and coaching you regarding court appearances or negotiations. You may want an attorney to perform non-discrete tasks such as representing you on a specific topic such as child support or visitation issues.
These services are one option to traditional representation that I offer. Provided that a written agreement clearly dictates my role, I am willing to work with you in a limited scope capacity to help you effectively handle your case. You decide whether you want me in the forefront handling a specific issue on your behalf, or rather you want me to remain in the background in an advisory capacity.
However, it is important that you understand my true limited scope capacity. One challenge with this type of representation or assistance is the client will often request additional services not included in the agreement.
